Project details

The primary focus of this project was to increase the capacity and line the existing overflow storage basin.  This involved earthworks of approximately 14,000m3 of sand and peat and installation of a 15,000m2 HDPE liner with gas venting strips.

Associated works included:

  • Removal to waste of the existing 450dia asbestos outlet pipe
  • Installation of a new 675dia outlet reinforced concrete pipe
  • Installation of a 125dia PE watermain for washdown
  • Building an access road
  • Removal and reinstatement of approx 130 solar panels
  • Directional drilling and connection of subsoil drainage to a new 5m deep 1500dia manhole

Key project takeaways –

“The Geotechnical investigation provided was limited and did not portray actual uncovered ground conditions – this is one of the biggest budget risks we see in civil construction and therefore recommend to our clients more test pits be undertaken ahead of works start”
