Project details

Supporting local growth with new park and ride asset

Working for Greater Wellington Regional Council and Fletcher Construction, works included subgrade remediation (including asbestos contamination), rainsmart soakage tanks, kerbing, utility trenching, streetlighting, asphalt pavement and landscaping.  A new fence was also installed alongside the Marae.

Key project takeaways –

“The accidental discovery of asbestos in ground delayed the project and pushed us into the winter months for pavement prep.  Shading meant areas could not dry out and extra stabilisation methods (including 2 layers of geogrid) were employed under engineering advice.  Our crew maintained good community relations including shutting down machinery whenever a tangi was being held at the neighbouring Marae.  The fish and chip shop and bakery on the corner were well used!”
